Radar scattering from objects behind a wall is studied using analytic, numerical and experimental methods

چکیده

a wall is studied using analytic, numerical and experimental methods. A cinder block wall is modeled using a periodic moment method solution, a periodic finite element/boundary element solution, and a multi-layer homogeneous model. The scattering from an array of cylinders is also investigated to identify scattering features that may be used for identification and classification algorithms. SAR images are generated from indoor through-wall measurements.

Direct Numerical Simulation of the Wake Flow Behind a Cylinder Using Random Vortex Method in Medium to High Reynolds Numbers

Direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow behind a cylinder, wake flow, using the random vortex method for an incompressible fluid in two dimensions is presented. In the random vortex method, the primary variable is vorticity of the flow field. After generation on the cylinder wall, it is followed in two fractional time step in a Lagrangian system of coordinates, namely convection and diffu...

Sea Surfaces Scattering by Multi-Order Small-Slope Approximation: a Monte-Carlo and Analytical Comparison

L-band electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional random rough sea surfaces are calculated by first- and second-order Small-Slope Approximation (SSA1, 2) methods. Both analytical and numerical computations are utilized to calculate incoherent normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) in mono- and bi-static cases. For evaluating inverse Fourier transform, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) i...

3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar

There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...

Globally convergent and adaptive finite element methods in imaging of buried objects from experimental backscattering radar measurements

We consider a two-stage numerical procedure for imaging of objects buried in dry sand using timedependent backscattering experimental radar measurements. These measurements are generated by a single point source of electric pulses and are collected using a microwave scattering facility which was built at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Our imaging problem is formulated as the inv...
